Saint Nicholas School was founded in 1987 by James L. McKey and Margot T. Heard, who shared a vision for a school that would provide a classical and Montessori-inspired education. James L. McKey played a pivotal role in organizing the school, securing property, and building a campus that would serve families in the Houston area. His dedication to education and commitment to the Catholic faith laid the foundation for what Saint Nicholas School is today. Margot T. Heard, as a co-founding partner, brought her passion for teaching and her belief in the importance of a well-rounded education to the school.
